Mission: The mission of the Student Academic Skills Center (SASC) is to help students develop the skills necessary to be successful learners through the creation of a supportive learning environment that fosters intellectual growth. In the supportive environment of the SASC, students work collaboratively to achieve academic success by gaining an understanding of their learning styles and by mastering learning strategies that can be applied to a specific class. Our short term goal is to enable students to succeed in a particular class, and our long term goal is to help students become independent learners.

In 2006, we tutored 1064 distinct students who attended 17,200 tutoring sessions. Students from every college of the university attended tutoring. Approximately 60% of our students were freshman and sophomores, and 40% of our students are juniors and seniors.
